If a black family has a household income of 180k, and are living in a neighborhood of people making 30k, they are either doing it by choice, or they are terrible at managing their money. It is not racism.

The parallel with the Jews is interesting, and Hughes talks about that elsewhere with black antisemitism. The thing is that blacks are so disculturated and so exploited their very genome is damaged. The cultures of ghettos is a cycle, and a good basis of reparations would be to go to the worst places and pull people out of poverty - because enabling people without a culture by giving them a lot of money at one time seems like it is not likely to work really well. And of course so many blacks hate society and whites and the whole system - they are hopeless. Giving them hope and a path forward is a lot better than money - but it is also not a concrete thing that can be relied on -especially whenever a program or something comes up it is often ripped off by the scammers in power posititions. To get a system that can adjuidcate something like this is a higher priority i think.

Reparations: good logic, but not enough money, and no way to determine who deserves reparations. Sad situation, but it would also create anger and violence against black people and more racial stress. Descendents definitely deserve reparations. Look at the way America has been governed - how all our corporations have exploited and extorted all workers. How our products and even our food is toxic. Our media is toxic. Our news is BS. We need a system that does not allow anyone to get too rich, and buoys up everyone to a decent standard. Equalize everyone, and let those who actually do something get rewarded for it - but no more billionaires. He's right about the redlining - very specific charges - that is a legal case that should go forward - liberally.
